New paintings for the show….

Things have been busy lately in the studio – both Corinne and I have been working hard to get ready for our “Studio Open House” on November 14th and 15th. We’ve been working daily at the easel to make some nice work to decorate our walls for the show. Corinne has been making some really nice “still life” work, like these paintings:

And I’ve been working on a variety of subjects, from landscape to still life, to architecture. Here are some recent pieces:

I’ve also been doing the framing for all the work that’s on panel – and have been loving working with all the great southern Ontario hardwood species for our frames. A big batch of dark brown walnut planks ended up in my wood shop last year, and I have been busy turning that into sawdust. It’s so amazing when the beautiful grain emerges from fresh hand-planed wood; it sometimes makes we want to become a woodworker.

Teaching has been keeping us pretty busy as well – I am currently teaching an intro Acrylic class at Fanshawe on Monday nights. Lots of fun in learning, and the students really force you to challenge your own painting habits. Corinne and I both have regular “one on one” students also – students that are beyond the basics and are looking to hone their abilities.

Lots to keep us busy, that’s for sure.

If you can make it by the studio on the 14th, or 15th please drop by!
